Bio (Artist Profile and Resume)

Hi there! Thanks for visiting my site and this bio page. My name is Jenny Yeung, and I really love art!

If you're coming here from my LinkedIn, then you might've already read the story in my About section. If not, then let me fill you in.

One of my earliest memories regarding making art, besides copying images or tracing things with stencils, comes from kindergarten, when I made a comic/picture book about two dogs and one of the dogs was suddenly carried away by a car. "I guess this is goodbye", I drew the dog saying (the one being carried away), and when I showed one of my classmates for fun without having put much thought into it, she gasped in horror at what I had drawn (drawn cartoonishly and childishly, of course). This strong reaction surprised me, but my love of art mainly comes from that: the fact that art can inspire emotions in a viewer, and-- after spending 16+ years with it --change (and even save) someone's life.

This is the story I wrote about in one of my college essays, which allowed me to get into Montclair State University and, in 2022, graduate with a BFA in Animation/Illustration.

My favorite type of art is the kind that moves, which is why I took the Animation Track in MSU's art program-- and why most of the art on this site (my portfolio) has motion. I really love the idea of bringing things to life, whether they are characters, difficult-to-understand concepts, or stories, so my ultimate goal is to be an Animator in the animation industry, working alongside other creatives to create something amazing. (However, I am flexible and open to animating for clients too!) My favorite kind of animation is the 2D type because that's what I grew up with, but I am also impressed by 3D animation, and I've tried my hand at stop motion as well.

One of my strong suits is I really love learning, so even though I like (2D) animation the most, I also have an appreciation for other art forms: things like 3D modeling, rigging, digital painting, and so on. Animation is not my only goal: I would absolutely love to acquire and improve on all kinds of skills, including making music. As long as I can continue to create and be close to any kind of art, I'll be really happy, so my free time is often spent looking at other people's work and building on my array of skills. Of course, I can always animate in my free time, so I do.
